I was introduced to psychological type 20 years ago during a team building workshop at work. Judy Robb presented Linda Berens’ temperament model, and I was fascinated! I asked Judy how I could learn more about Type, and she advised me to join the San Francisco and Sacramento ATPi chapters. Since I live equal distance between the two, I took her advice.

Soon thereafter the MBTI® was mentioned on two different occasions, and I took that as a sign to check it out. The resulting ENFJ suggestion fit like a glove! Immediately I gained insight into why people around me, including my husband at the time, saw things so differently than I did.

Over the years I became active with the chapters, joined APTi at the national level, became a Certified MBTI Practitioner, and Certified in the Berens’ models. I am honored to have received APTi’s Excellence in APTi Leadership Award as recognition for my work with both chapters.

I have many years of experience applying type in a corporate setting as a project manager and corporate trainer. After 30 years in the corporate arena, I launched Wright On Your Money, a business focused on personal money management.

Having a community of people who “speak Type” is invaluable. I’m excited about the many initiatives we have in place to build on APTi’s strong legacy and to strengthen our active community for all who seek ethical and applicable knowledge of psychological type.

My introduction to type in 1974 provided a number of insights relevant to my own growth and approach to the world. When I moved into a professional arena by 1981, I had completed CAPT’s Level 1 and Level 2 workshops and was involved with the Southeast Regional APT Board of Directors. Researching, presenting, and writing about type have been constant activities in an effort to elevate awareness and appropriate use of psychological type. I served as APT conference chair in 91 and 93, while also being president of the Association.

My books have been well received over the years (e.g., I’m Not Crazy, I’m Just Not You or Introduction to Type and Emotional Intelligence). I most proud of the evidence-based approach in supporting type propositions which came to fruition with the Pearman Personality Integrator which does a deep dive on the eight functions. In short, type has been a dear companion over the years and deeply enhanced by professional and personal relationships.

I’ve co-founded a company, TalentTelligent, which provides talent management products and services, in which type is often a key elements of coaching and leadership development work. I’ve found psychological type relevant and important to helping others grow and become more effective in their lives.

Given what type has provided me, I am eager to support the Association as a Financial Director with a goal of keeping our financial books in order and achieving financial stability. I believe we are stewards of a precious legacy and knowledge which I hope we can continue to nurture and make relevant to a new generation of users of psychological type.

I was “qualified” as MBTI® Practitioner in the 1990s. Yikes! That was nearly 30 years ago. Once I learned about Type, my relationships with my colleagues and friends improved because I began to understand and appreciate differences in a way that opened my mind.

I heard someone recently say that Type was like “gravity.” That struck a chord with me. It is ever present in my psyche and gives me a great foundation for how to approach…well, Life! I describe knowing Type as a major component of my mental health. During the pandemic, I found myself meeting people from all over the world who enjoyed “explorations in Type” as a common thread. It saved my sanity and gave me hope for the future. And we had a lot of fun along the way!

In addition to being an MBTI Master Practitioner, I also studied with Linda Berens and am certified in her InterStrength suite of models: Essential Motivators (aka Temperament), Interaction Styles, and Cognitive Dynamics. I coach using the MBTI and the InterStrength models to help others see their relationships in new ways.

I’m happy to serve on the APTI Board of Directors as the new Membership Chair. Leaning on my background in high tech, I’m eager to help APTI transition to new technologies – new member database, new website, new opportunities for members to connect with each other, and great new programs. Come along for the ride! You’ll be glad you did.

Kevin’s therapeutic approach is based in psychodynamic and depth psychological theories and is significantly informed by theories of type and typology. As Jung wrote, “the shoe that fits one pinches another.” So too is an understanding of type essential in assessing and addressing the various presentations of therapeutic distress. Kevin’s strengths-based approach works with a client’s typological preferences to identify and develop the gifts hidden within the challenges and trauma. Through this process, clients also learn to de-pathologize those aspects of their type that have been unjustly rejected by their family, society, or self.

In true ENFP-fashion, when Kevin isn’t practicing therapy or spending time with his lovely wife and young children, he is enjoying a wide variety of hobbies and interests. Kevin is an accomplished leather worker and craftsman. He also makes and plays Native American style hide drums of many types and sizes.
